SONNENATURAL®

Sonneborn has developed new patent-pending, all-natural emollients with the brand name SonneNatural® and SonneNatural® Select. These products were developed to have the properties of petrolatum in terms of sensory, moisture retention, emolliency and rheology.

The INCI name for SonneNatural® and SonneNatural® Select products are Vegetable Oil (Olus Oil in the EU).

Sensory
SonneNatural® and SonneNatural® Select products are soft, translucent-yellow, medium gloss products.They have a nice, creamy application and cushiony feel with excellent spreadability, average play time, low tack and a soft luxurious afterfeel. The combination of softness and luxurious feel makes this product an excellent natural alternative to petrolatum in cosmetic formulations.

Moisture Retention and Emolliency
Transepidermal water loss (TEWL) data is available showing that SonneNatural® exhibits improved skin moisturization leaving skin soft and soothed.

Rheology
Data is available that shows that SonneNatural’s rheology is similar to standard petrolatums such as White Protopet 1S.

Applications
Suggested applications include hand and body lotions, face creams, hair conditioners, hair pomades, lip balms, sunscreen products, shaving and after-shave products, antiperspirant/deodorant products and any other personal care products where petrolatum properties would be desirable in an all-natural formulation.

LILAC®

Lilac® is a colorless, odorless liquid with the sensory characteristics of cyclomethicone. Lilac® has INCI name: C14 - 22 Alkane. This product is a highly refined mixture of alkanes with good spreadability, short play time and a powdery, soft afterfeel.

Formulators are searching for alternatives to cyclomethicone. We have developed an emollient that can be a potential alternative to D5 silicones in cosmetic formulations.

Applications
Lilac® can be used in any cosmetic applications that currently contain cyclomethicone such as: hand/body lotions, AP/Deo products, fragrance sticks, body washes, hair care products, and sun care products.

SONNECONE®

Sonneborn has developed a new line of patent-pending petrolatum products with the brand name Sonnecone®, which have unique characteristics. With INCI name Petrolatum, the Sonnecone products are much less greasy in nature, melt at skin temperature and have a silkier feel than traditional petrolatums and meet the specifications for USP Petrolatum. In fact, these petrolatums can be considered as either a full or partial replacement for certain silicones such as dimethicone and cyclomethicone in formulated products. This new line of petrolatums offers cost savings relative to the cost of silicone products.
